Our Mission
|
The I Believe
Foundation is a non-profit foundation dedicated to creating a learning, fun and
therapeutic environment for children with disabilities.
We adapt everyday activities and sports to include children with physical and/or
social-emotional disabilities. We make a difference in these families' lives by creating
an environment where these children can be successful in recreational and learning
activities.
Our foundation is based on 2 simple facts: Our community lacks a learning play environment
specifically for children with disabilities; Children learn and obtain skills through
their occupation, which is play.

About Us
|
I Believe was founded in 2004 by three
Occupational Therapists, who became aware of the many limitations placed upon special
needs children and their families. The opportunity to work first hand with these families,
and share in their frustrations and triumphs founded the vision of I Believe - that all
children regardless of their limitations should be provided an opportunity to participate
in their community.
|
|
The
vision of I Believe's founders has captured the attention of the regional community; the
volunteer base has grown to include parents of special needs children, educators from our
regional schools, and local professionals. The Board of Directors currently has five
members and meets monthly with any volunteer members to coordinate activities. The
volunteer base continues to grow as more community members learn of the need for these
services and programs.
Until we are blessed
with a facility of our own, our classes and activities for the children are located in
local business or churches. |
