"...I
wanted to share the impact you have had on my family and especially our Alex.
Alex is now
10 years old, in the 4th grade, and is a full-time integrated student with
autism.
He struggles like many of his peers,
but has most problems with socialization and emotional things (as
well as others).
We live in
southern Ohio, and as many of you probably know, services for autistic children are slim (particularly
for higher functioning kids, as our Alex).
I was lost when Alex was first diagnosed at
4 years old, and with little services available, it was a struggle, to say the least.
Many of the organizations I found were in Huntington,
WV (with
the Autism center and Marshall)however,
they only offered services to those who lived within the state.
Finally, we
found I Believe.
They have provided services
and activities for children across the tri-statea true Godsend to us!
Alex has participated in soccer, tumbling, and
various other activities offered by the group over the years.
He has enjoyed it, and as a parent, I have enjoyed
[seeing] him succeed and be accepted by his peer groupnot something he always finds
in school and other groups.
He enjoys these
activities, and we are surrounded by people who just understand our family dynamicwe
dont have to explain or ask for help when he needs it.
This group has grown through the years we have been involved, and I
thank God for the group and the volunteers who provide such wonderful
activities for our Alex.
Words can never express how grateful we are.
Thank you I
Believe
